| It is for freedom that Christ has set me free . I will stand firm, then, and not let myself be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1 Personalized I count myself dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus Therefore I will not let sin reign in my mortal body so that I obey its evil desires. I will not offer the parts of my body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer myself to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of my body to him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be my master, because I am not under law, but under grace. Romans 6:11-14 Personalized Through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. I, however, am controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, since the Spirit of God lives in me. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that I do not do what I want. I belong to Christ Jesus and have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since I live by the Spirit, let me keep in step with the Spirit. For everything in the world — the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does — comes not from the Father but from the world.
